More Than a Private Office: Designing for Focus and Privacy
Today’s workplace needs to support more than one way of working. Throughout the day, people transition between collaboration, focused work, virtual meetings, confidential conversations, and tasks that simply require fewer distractions.
That’s why privacy remains an important part of a well-planned workplace.
In our Fargo showroom, we’ve incorporated several types of private office settings, each designed to support a different need. From a reservable private office to our Copper enclave and an enclosed office within Campers & Dens, these spaces demonstrate how privacy, flexibility, and connection can work together.
A Private Office Designed for Flexibility
Our reservable private office provides an adaptable, technology-enabled environment for focused work, virtual meetings, and smaller conversations.
Integrated technology supports easy content sharing, while a height-adjustable workstation, integrated storage, and casegoods-inspired details create a highly functional workspace within a compact footprint. Modular walls and glass elements provide enclosure while maintaining a sense of openness and connection to the surrounding workplace.
The space also complements our non-resident leadership model. Rather than assigning dedicated offices, leaders have the flexibility to work where collaboration happens and utilize private settings when confidentiality or focused work is required.
The result is a more versatile use of space that supports both accessibility and individual productivity.
A Retreat for Deep Work
While some private spaces need to accommodate conversations and meetings, others are designed specifically for focus.
Our private enclave, provides an enclosed retreat for concentrated individual work, virtual calls, and quiet tasks. Its location within the natural flow of the workplace makes it easy to access without feeling disconnected from the larger environment.
Customized lighting settings allow individuals to adjust the space to support different work modes, enhancing comfort and focus.
The concept was intentionally carried forward from our previous showroom, where a similar enclave was consistently well utilized. Copper builds on that successful experience with an enhanced setting designed around concentration, comfort, and individual work.
Campers & Dens: A Different Take on the Private Office
Within Campers & Dens, an enclosed setting configured as a private office offers another interpretation of individual workspace.
Integrated within a broader workplace neighborhood, the office demonstrates how privacy can be incorporated alongside more open and collaborative settings. It provides an additional choice for individual work while maintaining proximity to the people and resources around it.
It’s a different approach to the traditional private office and another example of how thoughtful planning can create privacy without creating separation.
Different Spaces for Different Needs
The value of these spaces isn’t simply that they’re private. It’s that each supports privacy differently.
The reservable private office provides flexibility for focused work, virtual meetings, and confidential conversations. Copper creates a dedicated retreat for deep concentration and independent work. The enclosed office within Campers & Dens demonstrates how individual workspace can be integrated into a larger workplace neighborhood.
Together, they illustrate an important principle: privacy in the workplace isn’t one-size-fits-all.
By providing a range of settings, organizations can give people greater choice in where and how they work while making more intentional use of their space.
Finding the Right Balance
A collaborative workplace doesn’t have to come at the expense of privacy. The two can, and should, coexist.
The opportunity is in finding the right balance for your people and the work they do. Whether that means providing spaces for deep concentration, virtual meetings, confidential conversations, or simply a quiet place to focus, thoughtful workplace planning creates options that can adapt throughout the day.
Our private settings are just a few examples of how those choices can take shape.
At Connect Interiors, we believe great workplace design starts with understanding how people work and creating spaces that support them every step of the way. Reach out today to schedule a tour!
